Doraville, Georgia Company Named ‘Exporter of the Year’ by U.S. Export Promotion Magazine
February 2010 – Purafil, Inc. has received a 2010 Exporter of the Year award from ThinkGlobal Inc., publisher of Commercial News USA, the official export promotion magazine of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Located in Doraville, Georgia, Purafil, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of gas-phase air filtration systems designed to eliminate corrosive, hazardous, odorous, and toxic gases.
"Purafil is honored to receive the 2010 Exporter of the Year Award,” said Mr. Andrew Weiller, Director, Purafil Asia. “Purafil is dedicated to unparalleled research and development, patented products, and value-added services that propel growth and continued global success. This award offers instant creditability in our commitment to broadening our exporting initiatives."
For over 40 years, Purafil has been a world leader in the engineering and manufacturing of
gas-phase air filtration media, systems, and air quality monitors. Purafil developed the world’s first potassium permanganate, air-cleaning media. Today, Purafil provides innovative, clean air solutions to customers in every geography and market. The company’s products are used
in process industries as well as in commercial buildings, museums, libraries and archives, cleanrooms, and post-harvest shipping and storage facilities. Purafil is supported by representative firms throughout the United States and in more than 60 countries.
In process industries, Purafil products inhibit corrosion of machinery and computer controls.
In buildings, they remove odors and improve indoor air quality. In museums, libraries, and archives, they preserve art and historical documents. In cleanrooms, they increase yield and product reliability. In water and wastewater operations, they protect the environment, and in post-harvest shipping and storage, they extend the life of fresh flowers and produce.
"I can attest to our burgeoning exporting efforts within the past two decades, "Weiller added.
"In fact, Purafil has also been the recipient of the U.S. Presidential E and E-star Award in recent years. We are equally grateful to win the 2010 Exporter of the Year Award as it helps to establish our company as the global expert in clean air solutions."
Commercial News USA is a catalog-style magazine that reaches more than a quarter million readers in 176 countries worldwide. Awards were given to one U.S. company in each of 11 industry categories. Privately held Purafil began export activities in 1977 and was the winner in the Environmental category. All Exporter of the Year award winners will be profiled in the May-June 2010 issue of the magazine.
Criteria on which winners were selected included the total number of documented export transactions completed in 2008, the total percentage increase in sales in 2008 compared to 2007, exports as percentage of total sales, the company’s commitment to exporting, the company’s commitment to customer service, and the company’s innovation and originality in marketing products or services. To be eligible for the award, a company must currently be exporting from the United States.
Gregory Sandler, publisher of Commercial News USA, said that the success of Purafil, Inc. indicates clearly how American companies can benefit from exporting. "American companies that want to grow and to expand beyond their current trading areas need to consider opportunities outside of the U.S.," said Sandler. “World markets offer real potential for U.S. exporters."
