Package Forwarding Company in Bradenton Is Named
‘Exporter of the Year’ by U.S. Export Promotion Magazine
February 5, 2009 – Access USA Shipping in Bradenton, Florida, which does business as MyUS.com, has been named a 2009 Exporter of the Year award winner by ThinkGlobal Inc., publisher of Commercial News USA, the official export promotion magazine of the U.S. Commerce Department.
MyUS.com provides international package forwarding services to consumers worldwide, including parcel receiving, storing, and consolidation. The company also offers a personal shopper service to international consumers and a suite of e-commerce and value-added services to U.S. merchants that want to reach international customers.
“We’re very proud to be recognized with this Think Global/Commercial News USA Exporter of the Year award,” said Eric Baird, President and CEO. “MyUS.com’s business model allows merchants in the U.S. to participate in the global economy at a level appropriate to their needs and interest. We offer integrated solutions for businesses willing to invest more capital in furthering these opportunities. Businesses can select low-impact solutions in order to ‘put a toe’ into the international marketplace without having to devote capital-intensive resources to it.”
Baird launched his mail forwarding company in 1997 from a garage office and with limited seed money. In ten years, the company has grown from a small manual mail processor to an Internet-based international package forwarding company that serves more than 41,000 customers in virtually every global market. The company has become the nascent industry’s leading player, dominating market share and generating its highest profitability in an economy that has presented challenges to most other southwest Florida businesses.
“Our global coverage allows us to focus our marketing resources on bright spots in fluctuating economies around the world,” said Baird. “Growth continues at a rapid rate, even in countries whose currencies have lost some ground against the dollar. The selection and price of goods here will always be attractive to foreign markets.”
Commercial News USA is a catalog-style magazine with an estimated 400,000 readers in 176 countries worldwide. Awards are given to one U.S. company in each of 15 industry categories. Privately held MyUS.com was named Exporter of the Year in the Business Services category.
All Exporter of the Year award winners will be profiled in the May-June 2009 issue of the magazine. Criteria on which winners were selected included the total number of documented export transactions completed in 2007, the total percentage increase in sales in 2007 compared to 2006, exports as percentage of total sales, the company’s commitment to exporting, the company’s commitment to customer service, and the company’s innovation and originality in marketing products or services. To be eligible for the award, a company must currently be exporting from the United States.
Gregory Sandler, publisher of Commercial News USA, said that the success of MyUS.com is indicative of how American companies can benefit from exporting. “American companies looking for growth need to be considering opportunities outside of the U.S.,” said Sandler. “World markets offer considerable potential for U.S. exporters.”
